Durfee Swim & Dive Sweeps Brockton

Durfee traveled north to Brockton to take on the Boxers in a swim meet. Both the Durfee boys and girls teams were victorious improving their records to 2-5 this season and 1-0 in league play. The final scores were 74-24 for the boys and 91-45 for the girls.

     To start things up on the boys side, the relay team of Omar Mahmoud, Michael Harrington, Richard Rittenberg, and Reed White won both the 200 Medley and Free Relays (2:07.57 and 1:50.33). Individual winners include White in the 200 IM with a time of 2:56.94, Logan Vandenburgh in the 100 Free (1:11.13), Harrington in the 500 Free (6:34.68), and Mahmoud in the 100 Breaststroke (1:17.15). Complete team effort today with strong swims from Seth Vandenburgh, Ronald Richard, and Zack Topolewski.

     The Durfee Girls took 1st in every event today! Individual winners started with Reagan Melo in the 200 Free (2:59.64), Avery Antunes in the 200 IM and 100 Back (2:47.59 and 1:16.34), Kaiulani Levesque in the 50 Freestyle (30.77), Gretta Moniz in the 100 Free (1:21.63), and Ella Farias in the 500 Free and 100 Breaststroke (6:55.17 and 1:32.09). In the Relays, The 200 Medley was won by Bella Nunes joining forces with Antunes, Levesque, and Farias (2:24.34), Antunes, Moniz, Levesque, and Farias won the 200 Free (2:06.73) and in the 400 Free had Moniz, Melo, Nunes, with Liliana Goncalves and a time of 5:36.17.

Brockton & Durfee Split In Hoop Action

The 2025-26 Big 3 Conference basketball season kicked off last night, with the home court teams prevailing. The Brockton boys defeated visiting Durfee, 52-36, while the host Durfee girls prevailed, 50-32 over the Lady Boxers.

In the girls action, the Hilltoppers were led by Jasiya Norwood with 17 points. Tajeaya Sterling added 14 points, while Skyla Coward chipped in with 8 points.

For the Lady Boxers sophomore Kendall O’Brien led the way with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and 3 steals. Other key contributors for Brockton were:

Durfee’s Jasiya Norwood

On the boys side, Durfee’s Jaheim Calixte had a strong game with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Rashad Williams added 6 points, while Marvins Antonie and Sir Morales chipped in with 5 points each.

Big 3 conference hoop action continues when Brockton and New Bedford square off on January 13. The Brockton boys will again be at home, while the Lady Whalers will host the girls match-up.

Durfee Girls Hoop Wins Holiday Tournament

The Durfee girls basketball team took first place in the Skip Karam Holiday Tournament, held at Durfee’s Luke Urban Field House. The Lady Hilltoppers defeated Somerset-Berkley, 46-31 in the championship game. Durfee’s Jasiya Norwood was named tournament MVP.

Durfee Swim & Dive Splits With B-R

Durfee faced off against Bridgewater-Raynham at Durfee High School’s Karen Jarabek Pool. The meet was split with the boys falling to 0-2 in their 74-66 loss and the girls picking up their first win to go to 1-1 on the season, winning 78-68.

On the girls side double winners came from Claire Bjerre in the Dive Event and 500 Free (161.15 and 7:09.25), Bella Nunes in the 100 Back and 200 IM (1:27.60 and 3:18.88), individual wins came from Avery Antunes in the 100 Fly (1:20.51) and Kai Levesque in the 100 Breast (1:32.46). Durfee would also sweep all three relays with Antunes, Nunes, Levesque and Ella Farias in the 200 Medley Relay (2:20.82), Antunes, Levesque, Bjerre, and Farias in the 200 Free Relay (1:57.55), and the 400 Free Relay by Nunes, Levesque, Gretta Moniz, and Liliana Goncalves (5:24.63).

For the boys, Micah Ross kicked off the meet, winning the Dive Event with a score of 188.25. Michael Harrington was a double winner in the 200 and 500 Free events (2:16.83 and 6:17.90) Omar Mahmoud in both the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke races (2:42.41 and 1:19.38). The relay team of Harrington, Mahmoud, Richard Rittenberg, and Logan Vandenburgh also won the 400 Relay with a time of 4:28.57.
