It was all Bridgewater-Raynham against Southeast Conference rival New Bedford, as the Trojans posted shutout victories in both baseball and softball. The B-R baseball squad posted a 5-0 win, while the Lady Trojans won 8-0 in a match-up of squads that had yet to lose in league play.
B-R starter Mike Logiudice earned the win. He allowed just two hits over his five innings of work. Luke Barry went the rest of the way, posting four strikeouts. New Bedford pitcher Ben Frenette worked the first four innings, allowing one earned run, while striking out one. Aaron Pimental pitched the final three innings for the Whalers.
With the win, B-R improves to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in the SEC. New Bedford meanwhile, falls to 4-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
In softball, B-R pitcher Lily Welch went the distance, fanning 11 Whaler batters, while giving up just three hits and walking no one. Offensively, Riain Keefe, Taylor Reid and Emma Talpey led the way. All had three hits on the day. Keefe had an RBI and scored three times. Reid had a pair of RBI and Julia Shearstone had a three-run triple.
With the win, the Lady Trojans even their overall record at 5-5 and improve to a conference leading 4-0 in the SEC. It was the first conference loss for New Bedford, as the Whalers now sit in second place at 2-1.
