The Bridgewater-Raynham tennis teams took care of business against Southeast Conference foe Brockton, winning both the boys and girls matches. The Trojan boys prevailed by a slim, 3-2 margin, while the Lady Trojans blacked the Boxers, 5-0.
With the win, the B-R boys even their league mark at 1-1 heading into their match against New Bedford, which is also 1-1 in SEC action. Brockton falls to 0-2 in the conference. The Lady Trojans meanwhile, are tied with Dartmouth atop the SEC standings with a 2-0 mark. Brockton drops to 1-1.
In the boys match, Brockton took first single in a hard-fought battle. Christian Wahnon emerged victorious over Kiefer Jule 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. The Trojans won relatively easily at second and third singles. Logan Thomas bested Clifford James 6-1, 6-0 and after a tight first set, Michael Harrington prevailed over Ren Long 6-4, 6-1.
In the doubles action, Brockton’s first doubles duo Stevenson Exantus and Fedson Exantus won a tight battle against B-R’s Tommy Hammond and Ryan Levine 6-4, 6-4. Second dubles went to B-R, as Cooper Hammond and Anthony Farraz cruised against Jahir Tineo and Joel Nunoo 6-2, 6-0.
In the girls match, B-R’s Nicole Kimball was outstanding at first singles, winning over Milani Depina 6-0, 6-0. Lily Balutis was also very strong at second singles, defeating Renece Vernon 6-0, 6-2. Ellie Balutis completed the singles sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Ahunna Okreke.
In doubles action, Brockton’s first doubles duo of Christelle Jean- Baptiste and Samantha Blanchard put up a fight against Annalies Colwell and Marlena Colwell, losing 6-2, 6-4. The Lady Trojans’ second doubles team of Smitty Sriram and Eily Mitchell completed the shutout with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Alexandria Johnson and Priscilla Barros.
